"Most women who experience vaginismus never seek help. You did. That takes courage."

— Dr Julia Reeve

What is TVZ

A clinic experience distilled into an app.

TVZ takes the framework Dr Julia Reeve developed over more than three decades of treating women with vaginismus — the 9-stage protocol, the breathing techniques, the knowledge base, the journaling — and arranges it as a structured, private companion you carry in your pocket.

It is not a replacement for clinical care. It is what many women wished they had between appointments, or in place of appointments that were never available to them in the first place.

"You can use this app entirely on your own, or alongside professional guidance. Both paths work."

The 9-stage protocol

A clinically developed pathway.

Each stage builds gently on the last. Move through at your own pace — some women spend a week on a stage, others several months. The protocol holds the structure so you don't have to.

01

Getting used to a dilator

Holding it, looking at it, letting your nervous system register that the object itself is not the threat.

02

Your first dilator

The knocking technique — a gentle, paced introduction that respects the body's natural rhythm.

03

Once past the muscle

Learning to move the dilator with control — the foundation of pelvic floor confidence.

04

Working through sizes

Progressive desensitisation with each successive size. Always with a return-down at the end of each session.

05

Inserting while standing

Adding a new position. The body learns the muscle response can stay calm in different orientations.

06

Dilators to go

Practising outside the home — in changing rooms, hotels, anywhere life happens. Building resilience.

07

Partner involvement

For those with partners — three branching paths to bring intimacy back without losing the protocol's structure.

08

Day X preparation

Building toward the day the work moves from practice into life. Thoughtful, never rushed.

09

Day X

The integration — bringing body, breath, and confidence into a calm intimate experience.

"There is no rush. There is no deadline. There is only gentle, consistent progress — and you are making it."

Frequently asked

Questions about TVZ

What is TVZ and who is it for?

TVZ — The Vaginismus Zone — is a private dilator therapy companion app for women with vaginismus. It is designed for women who want a structured, doctor-developed framework to work through privately at home, at their own pace. It is not a replacement for clinical care, but it can support clinical care or stand on its own.

Is TVZ really private?

Yes. TVZ is built privacy-first. Everything you do in the app — sessions, notes, progress charts — is stored locally on your device only. No account is required. No data is sent to a server. Payments are handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play, so we never see your payment details. The app does not know who you are.

How much does TVZ cost?

TVZ offers a 7-day free trial with full access. After the trial, you can choose between €14.99 per month (cancel anytime) or €89.99 per year — equivalent to €7.49 per month, a 50% saving. Both managed through your device's App Store or Google Play account.

What is the 9-stage protocol?

The 9-stage protocol is a clinically developed pathway through dilator therapy, designed by Dr Julia Reeve. It moves gradually from getting used to a dilator (Stage 1) through to full intimate confidence (Stage 9), with each stage building gently on the last. The app holds the structure so you can focus on the practice.

Do I need to buy dilators separately?

Yes. TVZ is a companion app, not a dilator supplier. Dilators are widely available online and from medical suppliers. The app does not recommend specific brands, but does guide you on appropriate progression through sizes.

Can I use TVZ alongside a physiotherapist or therapist?

Absolutely. Many women use TVZ alongside pelvic health physiotherapy, sex therapy, or care from their gynaecologist. The app can export your progress to PDF, so you can share it with your clinical team if you'd like to.

I'm a clinician — can I get free access?

Yes. Verified healthcare professionals (gynaecologists, pelvic floor physiotherapists, psychosexual therapists, sexologists, psychologists, midwives, sex therapists, and others) can apply for a complimentary one-year subscription. Email professionals@drjuliareeve.com from your professional address.

What devices does TVZ work on?

TVZ is available on iOS (iPhone, iPad) and Android phones and tablets. Download from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

How long until I see progress?

Every woman's experience is different. Some notice changes within weeks of consistent gentle practice; others take many months. The body's reflex patterns took time to form, and they take time to soften. The app is built to support patience and consistency rather than speed.

Is there a book to go with the app?

Yes — The Vaginismus Book by Dr Julia Reeve, available in English and German editions on Amazon. Many women use the book and app together, but each works independently.
